I'm looking for info on what looks to be
either a very old or obscure IBM type
number. All I have is 3848 and "VTL" (card) to work with. None of the search
engines, including Deja News, come up with anything other than a "help wanted"
listing looking for someone with experience on the 3848.
Hope this helps (It's an excerpt from a 890K parts list that was available
from
www.decisionone.com, but had expired).
IBM-3840 IBM-ESCON 8 CHANNEL INCRMNT A F $108.80
IBM-3841 IBM-ESCON 8 CHANNEL INCRMNT B F $108.80
IBM-3848 IBM-"CHAN GRP, 8 ADD'L" F
$97.50
IBM-3849 IBM-"CHANNEL GROUP, SECOND ADD'L" F
$97.50
I don't think this is the same number. I have found several "3848s" in
IBM's
web space, but most were a memory expansion for various midrange boxes. The
3848 I'm looking for would probably have listed for several thousand dollars.
Spaceba for the informatzeya though.
