  I can get one
of those for $0-10.  It's called a DSL modem and even
comes with wireless networking in addition to USB, serial, and
10/100BaseT interfaces. 
But no VGA interface for the monitor.  : ( 

Watch for NS Geode thin clients (like Neoware EON). I picked up five of them yesterday for
$10 ea
mostly to use as firewalls.
