I've got several such disks, and could help you out, especially as it appears that you're a local (I'm in Woodinville). On the flip side, my MD5-AD3 seems to have gone south over the last decade of non-use, and I'm looking to replace it, or at least find one to temporarily swap with to confirm that it's indeed the disk controller that's iffy.
