Jason,
No, the expansion chassis was an XT size box with nothing but a MB with
of card slots and a power supply. It connected to the main PC by a cable
and a card that plugged into a card slot.
I've never seen a PC type (non PS-2) type external drive from IBM but
they were probably available.

internal one.
