I was measuring some other things this morning and checked this. It's actually
3/8" ID
with a 1/16" wall.
I've run several dozen tapes through it, and managed to recover some 800bpi ones that
I really wanted the data from. Usual problem with the 9914 though, that they are not
tolerant of sticky tapes at all. The slightest slowdown and they throw a
"STUCK!"
error and stop.
I did manage to get one of my Qualstar drives aligned to the point where they can
barely read 800 tapes. They are more tolerant of stick, and it is my main drive for
1600/3200/6250 recovery, but they've never been very good at all on NRZI tapes.
For sticky 800 and below recovery, I'm going to have to go with A/D's and
recording
the tach info so I know exactly what speed the tape is rolling at.

Back to 3M cart recovery (more on that later in an update msg I'm working on).
