24 pins makes sense for HP-IB/GP-IB, and the "piggy-back" connector
looks right, but the other end doesn't look like the DEC GP-IB cable
for my IBV-11, either. Is there a part number on either of those white
labels that are visible near the ends?

Doesn't match any DEC cable I know about.*
I could imagine something HP did for Hospital equipment,
IE out of our normal stomping grounds.
*But then, I've never seen DEC HP-IB.
