Still, I find it hard to see how even a small tube
can work
faster than a 90 nm transistor. The biggest speed issue
we have today is the external wiring and not the gate speeds.

It's simple actually. You see, electrons are afraid of the dark. They're
much happer in tubes where they don't have to stumble around in the dark
in stark fear that something will leap out and snatch one of them at any
second.
When they can see where they're going, they can get where they're going
much faster. :)
