New subject: What is this? Looks like maybe a VAX of some sort...
I suppose it could just be the RA82 and the TK?? drive but maybe its a whole
system... Not that I'm going to Virgina to find out...

The first picture does look like a complete system, but without
looking inside there's no way to be sure.

I think I can read the label "Microvax" at the stripe up left.
Funny they don't actually "list" the computer.
On the second picture there is a white box on the right with
some touch key panel. I think I have seen this kind of box
before. It's not DEC equipment. Could it be this is a printer
they used to have on the airports for printing boarding
passes?
Although it's too sad about the RA82 drives, but I would not
buy them like this. Shipping is an utter pain in the lower
intestinum.
But I couldn't buy them anyway, because of those weird
restrictions.

PS: what are those Aquisition values? Are those original purchase
prices prorated for inflation? 45 thousand bucks seem to be high
even for an RA81. But what was the original purchase price
back then?

It's been a while but in 1983 (maybe '84) I was involved with purchasing
some of the first RA81s in Australia and $45K each is about what we paid
for them. This included educational discount and in those days an
Australian dollar was probably worth more than a US one, so $45K "retail"
sounds about right. Let's see, that's less than $100/Mb!
Of course we were badly bitten by the glue problem that RA81s had, and the
two original drives were replaced several times. In fact the HDAs were
replaced so frequently that Joe (our Digital engineer) and I had it down to
less than 20 minutes....
