Forgot the caveats - if you're using a *real* C-64 system, your image is going to be limited to the capacity of a Commodore floppy, which is about 170K - and ultimately, to the video / system memory on the 64. So you'll obviously have to convert the image (GIF, whatever) to a low-color, low-res rendering. I never did image exchanges back in the day, so I can't suggest a C-64 specific format that is also handled by a conventional image viewer / manipulator like Irfanview and so forth.
