Huh? Amiga volume names ended in colon "DH0:" but
the folder names weren't separated by colons in a path string.
I can't remember an instance where a Mac application allowed the
user to enter the colons, although they were used internally, and
you could use them in some developer tools that gave command
lines or operated on "makefile"s.

Mac Matlab allowed you to specify its search path, and you
had to enter the paths, as in MacHD:Matlab:Toolbox;MacHD:Matlab:crap;...

So... _technically_ speaking, I was on a VAX, but I was using an
app that ran on a Mac that required me to use colon-paths. Not
a normal Mac experience, to be sure.

I ran into them while porting Mac Pascal code to C for the
DECnet port that my company published for the Amiga, called TSSnet.
Come to think of it, I think that code had to be VAX savvy, too.
I also used them in writing makefiles for the old MPW C
command-shell build environment on the Mac.
I also had to write very platform independent path-string
parsing C code for my 3D translation tool, Interchange.
It handled forward-slash, backward slash, DOS C: and
AmigaDOS DH1: and the gamut, and broke the paths down
into components, and could translate between them,
as well as substituting path prefixes.
