Yes, I'd expect to see some dry stuff, but the original standard is probably
not the one I need to study ... at least not until I'm thoroughly confused
by the current one.

(the list starts sorted by mnemonic) and from there, select the RFCs you
are
interested in (they're numbered) and request the
ones you are interested
in.
The RFCs make for some prety dry reading, but they are *the* document
standards for TCP/IP.
