As others have said, Apple is unlikely to make it so that you can run it
on anything but their hardware. Assuming they don't use the Pentium
D/Palladium DRM crap for that, I'm sure it won't be long before it's
possible to run it on anything, though. Just look at Mac-On-Linux.
I'm sure this is a sentiment shared by many,
which, besides all of
the economics behind parts sourcing for manufacturing, is a good
reason for Apple to do it.
There's many more reasons that this could be the death knell for Apple.
For one thing, they're going to start directly competing with Dell et
al for sales, which isn't such a great idea.
