I put some effort into the Peddle/MCA issue and found nothing yet. Personally I'd be mildly surprised if an individualist like CP would've been found at IBM at the time. I checked BYTEs 6/87,7/87 and found no mention of any architects. In general, IBM did not celebrate the individual above the team. Few counterexamples: John Cocke, Benoit Mandlebrot, ? I suppose a specialist could've found out more at a specialist event line a "Buscon" or the like.
