Hi,
I would like to read/write apple II disks directly
from my PC. Searching the web I read about the
following hardware cards for PC:
-Option Boards (made by CentralPoint);
-Apple Turnover card;
-Trackstar card;
Anyone knows where can I find one of those cards ??
Any other "DIY" solution would be apreciated too...

Hi Silvio.
The easiest way to do this, with hardware that is readily available, is to
use terminal emulation software to transfer files back and forth over a
serial line. There are many ways to do this detailed on the web.

not have the Apple anymore. I only have the disks....

worked very well. SOMEWHERE, I have several crates
of DEAD ones.
-Trackstar card;
The Trackstar 128 and the
Quadlink were entire Apple][ clones on a
PC ISA card. Do they have software for file transfer?
(NOTE: on a sample size of ~50, we had >75% DOA rate on the Quadlink.
We received several that had connectors misinstalled, that could not have
ever been tested. We had a comparable DOA rate on the replacement units,
indicating that they never did ANY QA.)

If he is not ready and willing to write a file system handler
(or complete OS), then a working used Apple, the Apple Turnover
(name changed to "Turnover" when Apple's lawyers contacted Vertex)
or the MicroSolutions board ("Matchpoint"?? NOT "Compaticard!)
would probably be the only options that would actually work for him.

For the "Apple Turnover", I wrote the file system handler for reading and
writing files to and from AppleDOS, Aplle ][ CP/M, ProDOS, and Apple
Pascal. Good luck finding a working board!

I stand corrected, Fred. That capability is in fact there for
Apple DOS and PRODOS. I have some other Apple disks which are
labled as being "Pascal Based" which it chokes on, and some of the
files on a PRODOS disk are uncopyable.

I think the original option board only supports 2 360K floppy drives, while
the deluxe supports 2 360KB, 720KB, 1.2MB, or 1.44MB drives (probably a bios
problem on the board).
Apple II disks would be 5.25 SD or DD so either board should work?

Apple ][ disks were GCR, with a flux density roughly comparable
to regular 5.25" FM (SD) GCR gave an increase of almost 50% in capacity.
The Deluxe board was capable of a much wider range of data transfer rates.
