out that DEC started out with porting OSF/1 to their PMAX
systems (MIPS based boxes, aka DECstation/DECsystem) and
then adding a good deal of their Ultrix stuff onto it,
*probably* intended as a successor to Ultrix.
AFAIK only OSF/1 T1.0 will run on MIPS boxen, I'm still massively annoyed I
can't find my disk!
