I've a
couple of text editors and word processors over the
years that mimicked the sounds of a typewriter. I believe the ROM
based word processor on the Coleco Adam does it and I seem to recall
a program for the Amiga that did it as well.
Fortunately, a pair of wire cutters will silence the speaker and remove
this annoying misfeature....
