DSDD 8" should fit just fine on "1.2M" 5.25"

5.25 it's been so long. I do remember the CCS used a banking scheme that
didn't agree with most of my systems.
CCS did have some 5.25" disk formats (both 48tpi and 96tpi) supported.
I have no idea whether they ever used them as boot disks.
