Do 74H chips fail more often than "regular" or LS TTL?

Incidentally, does anyone have/know where to get
74Hxxx TTL? I'm working
on a machine that's stuffed with it, and a
fair
number of chips have
failed. 74LSxxx works in most places, but there
are
some chips (74H52,
74H54 And-Or-Invert gates, 74H108 JK flip-flops,
etc) that don't seem to
have equivalents in other families. If one of
those
has failed (or fails
in the future) I am going to have problems...
A few months back (or was it a year now), I was
trying to stock up on
74Hxxx TTL
so that I would have some to repair my old PDP-11s
when/if those parts
died. They
are very hard to locate these days. After much web
surfing, I located a
place which
used to sell them, but was switching business over
to a more lucrative
solar products.
They still had a large inventory of the parts, but
couldn't be bothered to
sell me some
(or all) of the 74Hxxx parts that they had on hand.
I imagine that they put
them into
a dumpster -- what a shame!
