Did anybody fill him in on initiation rules, that he has to donate half
of his best parts of his collection to the group and that he needs to
attend all of the computer fests and buy everyone the first round of beers?

Wanting to produce PDFs? If you're on a Mac (OS X) you can 'print' from any
number of applications to a PDF file; if you're dealing with a Linux variant or that
stuff from Redmond, there are third party open-source tools to let you do the same thing.
