Hard cards frequently have compatibility problems. The dos versions you
are running won't handle partitions larger than 32mb IIRC. Try a later
version of DOS.
When I'm stuck for info I often go to DEJA and set it to search all of
history for a given phrase. I frequently get my answer.
An easy way to get a drive to work if you don't know anything about it's
geometry is to use an overlay such as EZDrive. Overlays used to be a real
bitch but are MUCH improved these days.
