I reckon that the burn-in on the Xerox Alto was an
early "desktop theme" or
"screen saver" (did the Alto have that feature?). If I recall correctly it
reminded me of cartoon-like butterflies, flowers, or a bee or something
>like that.
I always wondered if that was actually screen burn in. As crazy as it
might sound I got the feeling that was actually a clear 'decal' of some
sort applied to the monitor. Don't ask me why on earth I should get such a
strange impression though.
