I do have the special cables for connecting the
ups to the serial
ports ($41 direct from APC-yikes! but the pin-out was propietary).
I think that, on
some models at least, APC UPSes just use DSR and CTS
instead of transmitting data. The place I used to work at made their own
all the time.
