The SA-851 can be jumpered to handle its own write current requirements.
No input from the controller is required. See the 851 manual on bitsavers.
I have seen several 4 and 16 FDC cards where the 34 and 50 pin headers have
been hacked to bits. I was hoping to avoid another.
