won't even boot, but it's been awhile, all my stuff is always

At least our NetBSD MicroVAX IIGP does boot without being plugged into the
network. Could be a VMS thing, though.
AFAIK, they boot fine, but you'll get the "?? 1" error on boot and the
system will
drop the the ROM monitor.. it'll run, but you won't be able to autoboot.
