But I'd submit that Unix and Windows have
come vastly further from
their origins than any mainframe OS. Multiple complete rewrites,
complete changes of look, feel and capabilities, changes of platform,
etc.
You need to get yourself an old mainframe and a new one and play with
them to see the differences yourself. You'll never take my word for it.
