You are thinking of aluminum electrolytics, which are today the most common and
inexpensive of the many types of electrolytic capacitors. Tantalums are electrolytics,
they just have different construction than aluminum electrolytics. Tantalum and aluminum
electrolytics have displaced the older forms of dry and wet electrolytic capacitors.
