Has anyone here ever been on a jury? The average
company doesn't pay you
while you are on jury duty so you just need a note from your boss to get
out of going (weeding out most professionals).
I was... I know. It's rare. It was a complicated breach of contract
case.
That's not how it works in Arizona. The judge explained that they
were cracking down on excuses. The judge would not excuse anyone
because of financial hardship. Period. The judge would not even
excuse a juror with narcolepsy!
Mothers with infant children did get excused. There was one other
valid reason but I can't remember what it was.
I don't think the lawyers wanted jurors that didn't want to be
there... They did the right thing.
