Hmm... of all the judges of "what is a
minicomputer", IBM does not
rise to the top of my list.
The funny thing is that IBM probably made more minicomputers that
anyone else. They made a *lot* of S/36s and early AS/400s. Even if you
look at the 1400 line - a grey area machine, certainly - IBM knew how
to do volume.
Except IBM marketing called them midrange, not minicomputer.
