Just so--what's to prevent you from aquiring a used 'scope and
learning how to use it? I'm still using an old Tek 465 that I've had
for a long time that does most of what I need in a piece of test
equipment. I've also got a logic analyzer, but it rarely sees the
light of day.
There is a certain level of tooling required for most fields. I
suppose you could work on your car with nothing more than a pair of
gas pliers and a hammer, but doing things right requires the right
tools.
