In the US, just one SPST should suffice, if it's in the live wire.
You need DPST switches in much of Europe because there you find
unpolarized outlets.
I don't think they are in the same circuit. I'll have to go back home
tonight and dig out my Rainbow to check (unless someone beats me to
it).
