They don't, and they're not supposed to.
I find this remark ill-informed at best. I definitely know what's going
on inside my 7300, my Mac Plus, my Apple Network Server and my farm of IIcis,
and there are also plenty of DIY-Mac upgraders on the LowEndMac lists. Macs
aren't 'mysterious beige boxes' even if they do have fewer upgrade options
in some respects.
