I never said that this wasn't true, what I said was you that you loose
something when you loose physical access to the objects. To me your keenness
to acquire them illustrates this, and if you are prepared to ship them 6000
miles you must be keen.
In fact, on reflection, its not just a pity, its upsetting and distressing
that the best place for materials related to UK computing is in the US. This
doesn't make it un-true...
However whilst I don't think I can argue over the tapes, (I had forgotten
they were 7-track) and I don't know any one over here with a 7-track drive,
I would like to mildly disagree on the cards and manuals. If physical access
isn't important surely it would be cheaper to scan the manuals in the UK
rather than ship them 6000 miles to west coast of the USA. The same with the
cards, shipping a USB card reader to the UK would be cheaper and more cost
effective than shipping several heavy boxes of cards the other way?
