Many things

MS's take on it aside...actually, communism (as distinct from Communism) *does* work, right up to, usually, somewhere in the low hundreds of people. (I speculate that this is about the point at which you no longer can personally know everyone else involved.) Shared apartments, etc - often very communistic, sometimes explicitly so ("communes"), and they work. Until they get too big. (Or unless they're torn apart by other forces, which certainly happens.)
