Did anyone ever USE a light pen?
Few.
Some (myself included) did so very briefly, just to try it.
And, the IBM MDA monitor had a long persistence phosphor (P39?) that
didn't work well with it.
Same here, with a light pen (I still have) from some mainframe graphics
console (fat thing with a coiled cord and a fiber-optic tip). I used a
white (P4) CRT--better than the long-persistence green stuff,but the
accuracy, while good enough for selecting letters on a text display, was
totally unsuitable for fine tasks like drawing.
The clumsiness of the whole affair made me give it up fairly quickly.
