I wouldn't say scripted, but it is staged to a certain extent. When you go
in, the line goes past rows of tables/booths and curves around. They have
a panoramic camera set up to capture the view. For most of the stuff
people bring in that isn't filmed for the TV show, they give your item an
appraisal right at one of the booths. If you have something that someone
at one of the booths thinks will be interesting for the TV show, you
instead get pulled aside and led into a separate green screen room where
they do the appraisal. When shown on TV, the green screen is replaced with
the view from the panoramic camera (the background sound is also mixed
in). They also have some roaming cameras and take footage at some of the
booths to use as bumpers.
