Any suggestions of a name I should be seeking? I presume this means
that there is not something already open-source or built-into Linux
(a device driver that could be altered)? This latter aspect might
need to be explored since if I want to 'dd' the contents for a
backup then I would need to construct a way to save the extra bytes.
