Interesting suggestion. If his Alpha had a CD-ROM drive, that would
almost certainly be a reasonable way to go.
The CDRWin route is probably quicker unless his
OpenVMS experience
exceeds his Windows expereience.
He's a VMS expert of many years (back to 3.x)
