For most rarities it is worth your time and trouble to clean them up and show they work before selling them on ebay, for commodity items it is not worth the effort. Most garages full of junk probably have a few items worth cleaning up and selling, a bunch of stuff worth selling as-is or partially parted, and a lot of stuff that just needs recycled. If you are going to be a person who buys bulk and resells then you need to know your stuff because every scrapper in the universe will be listing items they know nothing about cheaply to compete with you. You also need space to sit on items for a while to maximize profit (dump a 100 Apple II+'s on ebay at once and you will get very little per unit, do a few a month and they will sell better etc).
