Nope, the HP 41 cassette drive uses a micro cassette tape very
similar to that used in answering machines.
However, this cassette (the HP82176, used inthe 82161 tape drive) is not
indentical to either of the common answering machine tapes (The philips
'minicassette' or the Sanyo 'microcassette'). It's most similar to the
minicassette, but it is mechanically different enough (it's thicker, the
spool spacing is different) to prevent the use of minicassettes in the HP
drive.
Correct. The only thing that I've found that uses the same tape is the Fluke 9010
Troubleshooter. I haven't tried one of the Fluke tapes but it appears to be
identical. I'm surprised that I've never found anything else that uses the same
tape.
