Which group did you pick? Going to DECUS-UK lets you subscribe to the
site for free, whilst going to ENCOMPASS-US does let you register at
non-associate level to get the Hobbyist license but requires an
associate ID before you start?!

ooer, you're right - it asks for an Associate ID. I don't remember this
