I've seen a few Tektronix workstations, and they
seem to be based (in
general) on 68k CPUs, often the 68020.
It took some _SERIOUS_ manipulating of the web engines today during lunch,
but I finally found something out.
It seems there were three distinct 'families' running Tektronix UTek
(UNIX). The first, which it sounds like I'll be getting, had a rather
obscure processor I've heard of before, something like a '32k'. The second
family is what you're talking about, and the third used the 88k processors
(about 1989), and was supposed to be quite nice. Can't wait to get it,
hopefully it's got some doc's, because there is nothing on the net. Only
one "Collection" web page mentions anything close.
Apparently he spent part of his lunch checking out my web page, because I
got a message he sent from work offering me an IBM XT and a ancient Compaq.
