[SPAM(date)] Directory entry limit (OS/8)?

This does not depend on the device but on the number of Additional Information Words (for example the date). The maximum is 240 files with the default of 1 Additional Information Word. OS/8 allocates blocks 1 through 6 of each file structured device as the file directory. ... Each entry in a directory can, optionally, have extra storage words called Additional Information Words.
