I was wandering through the aisles and perusing the shelves - just because
it's a fun thing to do, not looking for anything in particular - when I
noticed a thin white volume between the Tomes. It was 'Threaded
Interpretive Languages: Their Design and Implementation', published by
Byte Press once upon a time, and only once - long out of print. I'd been
looking for it on and off for years, never found it on eBay, and there it
was! ISTR it was ten bucks or so.

PS: since then I've discovered ABEbooks - and I see they have several
copies listed. Oh well, I had fun finding it my way.
I don't think there has been any "rare, you won't find it" book I've
been interested in, that *wasn't* purchasable on ABE Books for a
reasonable price.
