You can break the bond between the safety glass and the face of the CRT by
cutting through the silicone with a hot wire, then clean up and reattach
the safety glass by bonding it with more silicone just at the edges (where
it won't be seen once reinstalled in the chassis). Obviously it's not as
safe any more!
(will silicone pour when heated and still cure properly when cooled? I
wonder if it's possible to re-bond the safety glass without ending up with
air bubbles trapped between the layers)
