I also learned it as "Shave and a haircut, two bits", but it's been a
long time since anyone could get a shave and a haircut for 25 cents. 25
dollars is more like it.
I'd thought that bay rum had gone the way of Lydia Pinkham's but a quick
check on eBay shows that it's still being sold. Maybe I'll spring for a
bottle. I always did like the smell.
