I dont know if you guys know about this, but I just
found out about:
www.archive.org.
They have been archiving tons of websites since 1996. You can put a URL
and it can take you back as far as 1996 (as long as it is archived) and
look at its contents! This is amazing as a lot of companies are gone and
I can look at their websites and grab information from it.
Very cool! I actually ended up making use of this last night.
Unfortunatly the it looks like they don't have working search engines of
the sites, as I was trying to search for some datasheets, still it looks to
be a very valuable tool.
OTOH, I must confess to being very disappointed over their 'Arpanet
Collection'. They've got it in some wierd 'DjVu' format that requires
you
to download a plugin. While they claim Mac support I couldn't get it to
work on my Mac (it looks like they've got thier site misconfigured). I
tried from XP and it worked, however, I discovered that all those juicy
looking documents and books are only a couple pages in a lot of cases :^(
