I've got a couple. 8 rows of flip-chip cards in a large backplane.
The DX-11 is a CSS (?Computer Special Systems?) pruduct. That division built custom and
special low volume devices. Given that, the fact that it?s built out of small standard
flip chip cards instead of custom-designed boards makes a lot of sense.
IIRC the lights panel can also be used with some other DEC peripherals.
The RK11-C I think has connectors for it.
I think you?re right. The same basic 3U lights panel, with different covers for different
lamp labels, shows up on the RF11, RS04, RP11, and probably several other devices.
