So quite why
do you think this manaul would have been of use to me?
 It was a joke, Tony.
I was not referring to the manual.

On any other list, I would ahve taken it as such, but this is classiccmp.
Don't we generally run old computers here?
Chuck asked what was the point of such an old manual. I commented that
this was a strange question, because what is the point of old
 computers anyway.
My comment meant that the members of the ClassicCmp lists keep and run
vintage machines for many reasons - for nostalgia, for pleasure, or as
parts of collections - but not for actual practical use.
With the exception of you, who often proudly state that you /use/ your
classic and vintage machines and will not use any remotely modern or
current hardware either as schematics are unavailable, or because they
cannot be repaired if they fail due to tiny surface-mount components
 and so on.
FWIW, I have no problems with surface-mount soldering (although I must
make a BGA rework oven sometime). The problem is htat most of the ICs
aren't avaialble as spare parts.
Now if you're happy trusting your data to soemthing you don't fully
understnad, then fine. Personally, I want to know what it is going to do
(and the user manual is not an adequate guide!).
