FWIW, I don't know if Linux cares.. under Ubuntu 12.04 it just IDs it as a
RTL 5370 and that's enough, apparently.

I've got one of those USB thingummies bought for about $2 from China. It
wouldn't work with OpenBSD; most likely because of a fake VID.
I suggested a remedy to the OpenBSD folks:
