Yup. 6 bit display code (10 characters per CM word). Later, 12 bit
codes were used to handle such niceties as lower case. (There were
actually a couple of competing representational systems for the
extended character set). A PP channel/word was 12 bit; PPUs had an
18 bit accumulator, however.
